    About the Organization:
    ACCION Texas is a non profit, multi state microfinance company and small business lender that helps entrepreneurs start, stabilize and grow their businesses. It is based in San Antonio with operations in the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee and Texas. ACCION Texas is dedicated to increasing incomes and creating jobs in low income communities by providing micro entrepreneurs with access to credit and business support services not available from the commercial banking sector.

    About the Job:
    ACCION Texas is looking for Loan Underwriter to handle lender underwriting and credit granting.

    Tasks and Responsibilities:

    - Recognize and act in accordance with lender underwriting and credit granting criteria;
       
    - Make pre qualification and final decision analysis of micro and small business loan applications;
       
    - Evaluate all financial information of loan requests up to $250000;
       
    - Conduct thorough analysis of credit bureau reports, bank statements, proof of income, financial statement, tax returns, business plans, pro-forma calculations, general ledgers, etc;
       
    - Review collateral values and make the necessary conditions and recommendation to execute loan agreements in accordance to policy;
       
    - Comply with authorized loan authority;
       
    - Recommend denials, approvals or cancellations to proper loan authority, including write ups of credit memorandums for outside committee or agency reviews;
       
    - Recognize clients’ needs and refer to additional sources of business support as needed;
       
    - Consult with loan officers on file requirements for final assessment;
       
    - Support CAO and director underwriting on underwriting policies and procedures development and updates;
       
    - Assist on the performance tracking of different loan programs and funding;
       
    - Assist on training in Underwriting Procedures and Guidelines to new lending and underwriting staff;
       
    - Conduct all other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    - College degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field required;
       
    - Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, organizational and time management skills;
       
    - Experience in lending, loan underwriting, and credit granting, finance, and credit analysis;
       
    - Experience in federal loan programs including but not limited to SBA 7a, CDBG, and USDA, preferred;
       
    - Effective decision making, customer service and conflict resolution skills;
       
    - Ability to assist and train new employees;
       
    - Reliable transportation and ability to work flexible schedule including travel;
       
    - Ability to work independently, with little supervision;
       
    - Must be self motivated and goal oriented;
       
    - Ability to identify time sensitive issues and work within time restraints;
       
    - Computer proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point, and MS Outlook) applications required;
       
    - Experience on SAS or SPSS preferred;
       
    - Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
