i. Conduct a capacity and needs assessment of Country-Level Networks and Microfinance Institutions (MFIs)
AFMIN achievements consisted of the following:
- Capacity assessment of APIM-Burkina Faso (March 2007)
- Capacity Assessment of AISFD-Cote d’Ivoire (March 2007)
- Capacity Assessment of APIM-Guinea (June 2007)
- Capacity assessment of AEMFI-Uganda (July 2006)
- Members’ needs and satisfaction assessment (July 2002, October 2004 and November 2005)
- Capacity assessment of APIFM-Madagascar (March 2005)
- Capacity assessment of GAMFINET-Gambia (October 2005)
- Capacity assessment of AMFIU-Uganda (under SEEP/TAARP, March 2005)
- Capacity assessment of GHAMFIN-Ghana (under SEEP/TAARP)
ii. Provide training and technical assistance to Country-Level Networks (CLNs) in building strong governance systems and internal capabilities

- Organisation of a training workshop on Governance, Business Planning and Fundraising for country level networks (September 2004)
- Strategic meeting with the Board of APIFM-Madagascar to discuss about the potenial role of the network in shaping the microfinance industry in Madagascar (March 2005)
- Strategic meeting with the Board of GAMFINET-Gambia to discuss about the revitalisation of the network and its potential role in shaping the microfinance industry in the Gambia (September 2005)
AFMIN achievements consisted of the following:
- Production of training materials on HIV/AIDS, Client Protection, Governance for Networks and Human Resources Development for MFIs
- Training of twenty-eight Evaluators on Network Capacity Assessment
- Training of Five Trainers on Financial Ratio and Analysis
- Training of two Trainers on Management Development Programme

AFMIN coordinated the following exchange visits:
- APIM-Togo exposure to GHAMFIN-Ghana Performance monitoring system and coordination (January 2008)
- APIFM-Madagascar exposure to Consortium ALAFIA-Benin and APIM-Togo for setting an unique Microfinance network in Madagascar (November 2007)
- RIM-Burundi exposure to Consortium ALAFIA-Benin Performance monitoring Tool and APIM-Mali Coordination (April 2006)
- ZAMFI-Zimbabwe exposure to Uganda Regulatory and Supervisory Framework (July 2005)
- GAMFINET-Gambia exposure to AMFIU-Uganda Performance Monitoring System (July 2004)
- APIFM-Madagascar exposure to Mali National Policy and Coordination (December 2004)
